Ujjain vegetarian food

Ujjain is a pure vegetarian city. Most restaurants serve satvik food suitable for pilgrims. As the owner of Hotel Ujjain, I have tried almost every restaurant near Mahakaleshwar Temple. Here are my top recommendations.

1. Hotel Ujjain Restaurant (In-house)

Our in-house pure vegetarian kitchen serves freshly prepared satvik meals. We offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Special thalis are available for pilgrims. All ingredients are fresh and sourced locally.

2. Apna Sweets & Restaurant

Located near the temple, this place is famous for its poha, jalebi, and samosas. Perfect for a quick breakfast before the morning aarti. Their chaat is also very popular.

3. Bhola Restaurant

One of the oldest restaurants in Ujjain, Bhola serves authentic Malwi cuisine. Try their daal bafla, poha, and kachori. The restaurant is very close to Mahakal Temple.

4. Shri Krishna Restaurant

A clean, family-friendly restaurant serving North Indian and South Indian dishes. Their thali is highly recommended for lunch. The restaurant is on the main road leading to the temple.

5. Local Street Food

Don't miss the street food near the temple complex. Try the famous Ujjaini poha, bhutte ki kees, and gilawat. But make sure to eat at clean stalls.

Pro Tip from Hotel Ujjain

If you are staying at Hotel Ujjain, you can enjoy freshly prepared meals without stepping out. Our kitchen serves breakfast from 7 AM to 10 AM and dinner from 7 PM to 10 PM. Ask our front desk for local recommendations.
